Amanda's 25th Birthday Party at The Delancey For My Birthday this year, I knew I wanted to have a party that was easy and fun for everyone! So with the help of my dearest friend John Law, we created the "25 And Still Alive Party," which took place on Friday, June 22nd at The Delancey. My friend Yana of Shiny Mama was the hostess. The Sexy Shingara Sisters signed on to DJ, and Lisa McQuade, Goodfinger, The Dream Team, Statues of Liberty, and Shotgun Wedding all performed that night! The lovely Lisa McQuade opened up the night with a hot backup band. Lisa chose my favorite 80's cover songs to sing and totally got the party started. My friends in Goodfinger were up next. They impressed the crowd with their bluesy rock songs and my girl Scrapp's sexy attitude. After Goodfinger it was Me and my "Dream Team." Every year I gather up the hottest and most talented boys in the east village to back me up! This year we had the one and only Jon Weber (The Compulsions, The Orion Experience) on drums, the super sweet Matt Hogan (Early Edison, God or Julie) on guitar, and the hunky Tom Wendling (Early Edison) on bass. Tom stood in for senior Dream Team member Tommy USA who was on tour - we missed him dearly! We opened up with the Lita Ford cover "Kiss Me Deadly" - a hair metal classic! Then we played a song I wrote with the guys called "Mistress" - it sounded so hot! The next song we played was super special to me. It was called "All My Friends are Rockstars" and I wrote it about all my dear musician friends that work so hard and inspire me everyday - they are truly the real rockstars of the world! I wrote the song with the amazing Tom Ashton of Early Edison. Tom is one of the best song writers around - and I knew he would deliver a rockin melody! Even more special was when The Dream Team played it, Tom came up and sang it with us! We closed the set with a cover of Hole's "Celebrity Skin" - it wouldn't be one of my Parties without it! After The Dream Team and I left the stage the Statues of Liberty performed! John Law, Prince Hal and Hitomi rocked the club with their addicting rock songs. I don't know one person who wasn't impressed, that band is on fire! I even got to go up and sing "Hot Stuff" with them! What a thrill! Shotgun Wedding closed the night with their upbeat sound! The party was a HUGE success as always, the music was great, the club was packed, and everyone had a blast! Looks like every year gets better and better!
She's A Lady a series by Amanda Dolan Opening reception Saturday, February 3rd at: When The Ward-Nasse Gallery asked me to have a solo month long exhibit, I was thrilled! I knew my new series "She's A Lady" would be perfect! The series illustrated the journey through a woman's mind. From madness, desire, lust and love, a woman's heart holds it all. The gallery is very well known and is one of the oldest in SOHO. I had at least one hundred people at the opening and the show was a huge success. I sold four paintings opening night, and four more throughout the month of February. It was a true honor to have a one woman show there, and I thank all who came. The Gallery also has a year long group show going on, where two of my paintings entitled "Roxanne" and "Pretty on the Inside" are currently being shown. Come check them out and support this wonderful, warm Gallery. Very special thanks to Mr. Harry Nasse and Ms. Julie Nixon.

When I started to plan my Birthday Party this year, I knew I wanted a theme more gritty than last year's glam fest. I enlisted help from my dear friends John Law (The X's), photographer Jeff Forney, and graphic designer Paul Agresti. The guys and I designed a bangin' flyer that was super-sexy and Rock 'n' Roll. I chose to name the event The Vortex Party because I love the word 'Vortex'- its all a party should be, an all-consuming event that sucks you in! The Party took place on Friday, June 16th at the lovely nightclub The Delancey. I had my friend Yana of Shiny Mama host the evening because she really knows how to get a crowd riled up. My dearest Webmaster and friend Lundo was the utmost perfect DJ, spinning the best of down and dirty rock! The lovelies in Early Edison kicked off the night with a smokin' hot set that was both punk and melodic. They really blew the crowd away, and are truly a hidden gem of a band! Even more special to follow was my debut with a kick-ass backup band. With the help of my best friend, bassist Tommy USA (Liz Phair, Jonny Lives!), bad-ass drummer Mike "Beans" Benigno (Dirty Mary), and uber-hott guitarist Matt Hogan (Early Edison, Scartletts Web) I put together the ultimate "Dream Team." I called the boys my "Dream Team" because I hand-picked three of the most talented and sexy musicians in NYC - and together we all made one terrific Super Group! It was such a pleasure to work with the guys. We had a five-song set which included a cover of Alice Cooper's "Poison," two original songs that Tommy and I wrote entitled "Mistress" and "Prettiest Drug," a song that my dearest darling John Law wrote for me called "Gorgeous Mess," and of course to close the set we covered Hole's classic "Celebrity Skin!" The guys and I had such a huge, positive response! The club was packed at the point and our set was filmed by MTVu.com! After The Dream Team and I left the stage my buddies in Jonny Lives! headlined the night - impressing the crowd with their Lower East Side sound. Click HERE to see MTV clips of Jonny Lives! playing my party! Go to the "Backstage Pass" section... yours truly makes an appearance! All in all The Vortex Party was a big success for myself and the bands affiliated. Everyone seemed to have a blast and the club kindly asked me back! |

On Feb 4th 2006, my dear friends in Valeze hosted their infamous CIRCUS party. This time the theme was "Barbarella" and I was hired to transform Brooklyn's Galapagos Club into an outerspace Barbarella Universe! With lots of glitter, stars, and a mountain of Purple bubble wrap, I managed to pull off the look! Hundreds of people came out to support the party; and great bands such as my friends in Jonny Lives!, The Switch, Lovewhip, and Valeze entertained the masses! I felt so honored to be a part of the CIRCUS/Valeze family! It was a fantastic opportunity, and thank you so much to everyone for their help and sweet comments! |

On December 19 2005 CHERRY was presented at Fat Baby on Ludlow Street, at which 22 women sang a variety of tunes, back by acoustic guitar, violin, drums, and saxophone. I donned my Celebrity Skin and performed a Courtney (Hole) favorite (of course!). It was a kick-ass evening, and I'm honored to have been involved in such an event! Stay tuned for upcoming CHERRY events! Also, very special thanks to my fan club in the front row: Claire Lyddan, John Law (the X's), and Lundo! |

In December of 2005 I was asked to participate in Ignite's Femmevolution Show at Niagara. Run by artist Sylvia Ortiz, the show brought together nine of New York City's finest female artists. It was such an honor to be included in this particular show. The show had a great vibe, and the ladies and I felt like an unbeatable team. Each girl brought something different to the table. I included my paintings Linda's Lucky Number as well as my Dementia series. |

In October of 2005, I had a show at the East Village nightclub Niagara. The show was entitled "The Maneater Series", and included a variety of my new three-dimensional paintings dealing with heartbreak, female rage, and growth. Niagara, A New York staple, is known for its Rock 'n' Roll scene. The exhibit was presented by The Antagonist Art Movement. Every Thursday night downstairs, four or five local artists partake in "Ignite!"- a one night only showing. The movement, headed by my friend, Ethan Minsker, supports local painters, photographers, and film makers, trying to get their name out there without selling out to the "Commercialist." The exhibit was a huge success! I had at least fifty friends and family celebrating my first NYC show! There was live music, a great crowd, and lots of art plastered upon the walls! |

In June of 2005 my dear friend Chris (The X's) and I started to plan the Truly Outrageous Party. I chose the title "Truly Outrageous" because of its reference to the 80's cartoon character 'Jem' (also one of my nicknames). I demanded the party have a pink theme to make it more fun and cheesy for the crowd! We wanted to create a party that was wild; so we hired go-go dancers, had outlandish decorations, got Tiffany Randol of Valeze to be our glam hostess-with-the-mostest, and the most wonderful DJ in New York, Michael T, spun the hottest music! We chose Bar Eleven because of its size and available stage. Three wonderful bands performed that evening: The Fashion Brigade, Goodfinger, and The Drew Blood! I also made my singing debut covering Hole's "Celebrity Skin." I was backed by my incredibly talented pack of boys: bassist Tommy USA, guitar player Chris aka "Cupcake," and drummer Mike Maenza. It was an amazing, un-forgettable night of debauchery and the crowd seemed to enjoy all the festivities! It was also a great learning experience for me; I had finally gotten my feet wet in the NYC party scene. Of course, none of this would have been possible without all the help from Chris, the space provided by Counter Commons, and the DJ skills of Michael T. Stay tuned to find out about the Truly Outrageous. Who knows, it might become an annual event! |
